Fall in Spring
05:25
|
|||
One day it started tumbling down
One fall and the Spring green all turned Brown
Our Rose Gardener stopped tending to her
Because the weeds ignored his pleas and pulled him to the ground
So, I've stopped praying hard to get
And it worked
Put a cast on a useless hand that can't be cured
Taking care of the caretaker is hard to get
But, she fell and he died
I've aged a decade in a year
But it's finally alr--
The Gardener took his final breath
Exhaled and we inhaled what he left
Two years gone by, and we tend to her
One of my fears: three, five, twelve years
How long she can hold on
So, I've stopped praying hard to get
And it worked
Put a cast on a useless hand that can't be cured
Taking care of the caretaker is hard to get
But, she fell and he died
I've aged a decade in a year
But it's finally alr--
I've stopped praying hard to get
Things still changed, it makes good sense
I've stopped living in my head
Got a partner and it's better
We're not unique
This kind of thing is more common than her disease
And I still yearn
A fall in Spring turned siblings into acquaintances who schedule things
And I still yearn
And I miss them more than I miss him
And I miss him
But I miss them
And it seems I've arrived
I've aged a decade in a year, but it's alright
Because I feel good, I feel good
We're all on this ride
And there's no grand design, it's just...
Fall in Spring killed my old dead self

Dust Up
03:05
|
|||
Hey! We never thought we'd see you
Help! There's one thing we want, please will you
Lower him from the living
Like Lazarus, but opposite
Please baptize this orange with fire
Pain, it doesn't have to hurt much
Just make sure it's permanent
Don't infect him with leprosy
Or make him blind cuz he should see
It's not petty, we just want orange gone
None of that New Testament softness
Go Old Testament on his ass
Lower him from the living
Like Lazarus, but opposite
Cuz if you did we would not have to pray for it to be
Don't make us wait for natural causes

Colder Than Eyes
05:16
|
|||
We're meant to be, but not what I meant
The drive home is the only time to vent
And sing 'Wouldn't it be nice' while I add distance to his distance
I can't leave, but I might
I got outnumbered
When it was me vs you
Colder than eyes
Staring back at me when I propose
While we're out of tune
I said too much, and then not enough
It's more likely that these walls would talk
He wrote a letter because letters can't form words inside his mouth
We'll take a break, to shake him awake
I'm like an ocean, he's a lake
And if my dam breaks there's a chance that he'll just quietly fade away
I can't leave, but I might
He's growing up at 35
I got outnumbered
When it was me vs you
Colder than eyes
Staring back at me when I propose
While we're out of tune
No sign of life
No sign of light
No sign of flight inside those eyes
Too tired to try
We tried to tire each other out, but why?
I'm not leaving
But, I'm thinking
I might leave before 3-0
I got outnumbered
When it was me vs you
Colder than eyes
Staring back at me when I propose
While we're out of tune

Regret
03:34
|
|||
Angels in my apartment
Sent them home to their guardians
One of these days, I'll have a guardian too
Demons I was resisting
When I stopped believing, they stopped existing
One of these mazes might lead to something
Wandering aimlessly with a chant saying
We all know where we're going
Follow us, or you're going to regret--we get it
It's the one thing required for survival
I feel no different without it
None of these pages breathe like they used to
Wine has turned back to water
Miracles seem to have gotten so much softer
One of these mazes might lead to something
Wandering aimlessly with a chant saying
We all know where we're going
Follow us, or you're going to regret--we get it
We all know where we're going
Follow us, or you're going to regret--we get it

The Smith
03:48
|
|||
Well I once was a little boy
Dirty shoes
Searched for treasure with little toys, but found no loot
'til I knelt down
In 10 years I'll make proof... or will I?
So there once was a little tribe
It's here in gold plates that were filled by these hallowed scribed
Or was that me?
Or was that you?
They're feeling so confused
They think I'm proof
I might be...
They follow me
Because I'm convincing
Myself to be
The leader they need to believe
Now that I'm a grown man
I fold my hands, and pray I am
Like Abraham to all of them
It's true
Because they say it's true
I'm a dead man
They follow me
Because I'm convincing
Myself to be
The leader they need to believe
If it worked back then
Then why not now?
But when I'm gone
The dirt will prove me wrong

Mundane Massacre
04:45
|
|||
Killing everyone in sight is so easy
And 'freedom, freedom!' is what they say
When we're shot
I'm so bored
Just another...
Mild mass murder, mundane massacre!
Change can wait
Let's all mourn first...
'Thoughts and prayers' means they just stuffed their ears!
He shot a crowd in Vegas, just to watch them die
They all said we'd see changes, then hung their heads with a smile
Maiming everyone in sight is so easy
And 'freedom, freedom!' is what they say
When we're shot!
I'm so bored
Just another...
Mild mass murder, mundane massacre!
Change can wait
Let's all mourn first...
'Thoughts and prayers' means they just stuffed their ears!
Shoot 'em ups and a lack of Jesus
Aren't the reasons for these killings
We just need to cut their arms off
Cut the arms off this beast
'Thoughts and prayers,' until it's theirs
Make amends to the Second
Shoot 'em ups and a lack of Jesus
Aren't the reasons for these killings
Cut their arms off, cut their arms off
Cut their arms off, cut their arms off!

Live to Tell
05:01
|
|||
In time I've wondered...
What if I'm just wildlife? Hmmmm
But, when I die I hope I can live to tell the secret
in time I've realized
That we're all just painting like we know the art
All these tradition auditions
And yours got the part
But, when I die I hope I can live to tell the secret
